Justin's Remaining Days in Portland

Well the count down to my last day in P-town is upon us. This weekend has been packed full of fun and adventure. Friday at work my co-workers and boss surprised me with a farewell card, tiramisu cake, travel Uno and MadLib card games, a giant book of crosswords and other puzzles, and several pop culture magazines so I can stay up on the comings and goings of Hollywoods best (since I will have plenty of leisure reading time without a job).  We had a wonderful, warm departing party and I felt great!

After clocking out, the weekend began! It all started with McMenamins Crystal Ball Room and 80's night in down town. Unfortunately my fabulous 80's gear was all packed into the trailer, or down in California at the 'rents place, I am not sure which. I am sure that I was lacking neon stripes and hot pants. I did manage to borrow a shirt from my roommate Peter and rocked the popped collar while we danced the night away.
After recovering from a late night and working on Saturday I was rewarded with Alex and his folks coming up to Hillsboro to visit. We went to McMcnamins Grand Lodge in Forest Grove to watch a God-awful movie called Furry Vengeance. Alex and I had to refill our beer a couple times to make it through, but his kid brother and sister liked it, which made the whole adventure fun. After being dropped off at the house, we joined up with John, Lola, and Helen to head into the city to try out happy hour at Portland City Grill. We had a wonderful time, and thanks to Helen, we have proof that we were there!

After returning home, watching a couple episodes of Black Books and smoking the hookah, we hit the hay in the early morning. Waking up rip-roarin and ready to go, Alex and I headed to the disc golf course here in Hillsboro. After maxing and walking about playing a round of DG and finding breakfast sandwiches from Winco and astronaut ice cream from Dicks, we headed into town to see what we could see in Portland.

Portland had much to offer this weekend, from naked people supporting the gay pride parade on the MAX to delicious doughnuts from Voodoo and even delicious-ier whisky from Kells. Alex and I enjoyed a day of playing tourist which ended dropping him off at the airport that night.

Monday was another packed day, with work from 8 to 730 due to a balancing issue that a faulty check scanner caused.  After heading home, I was greeted by Irina and her sister. We cooked dinner and watched the Bachelorette until the boys came home with beer! I then played my first ever game of beer pong (with only one cup and paddles, not the ten cup triangle).  After a few rounds, I decided I needed to get better at ping pong before I try to take on challenges like this again.  Tonight we will try ten-cup pong on Peters new ping pong table and see how rusty I am.
