We woke up Jan 01, 2011 to snow! It was exciting. The not so exciting part was waking up to frozen water pipes and a forecast of sub-zero temperatures for the next 3 days. Thankfully Justin is amazing and he soon had consulted our other RV neighbors in the park and got us set up with a special electric pipe heater. With that roadblock behind us, we looked forward to establishing ourselves in Fallon.
Prior to coming here, Justin and I had been praying for a couple things: 1) that we could find a good church community while we were here 2) that we could find friends our age to hang out with and 3) that Justin could find work or steady volunteering to keep him busy. Sunday morning we randomly selected the Fallon Nazarene Church and attended the 10am service. We were blown away at how welcoming and kind everyone was. We were immediately picked out as outsiders (must be a small town kinda thing) and during the meet and greet time the Pastor Paul met us and invited us out to lunch with him after the service. So after church we went to lunch with Paul and his wife Tammy, their daughter Rachel, her husband Nate and 3 kids, and another church couple Mary and Chad with their 5 year old son Evan. Lunch was a great event and we clicked with all 3 couples right away. After lunch ended, Mary and Chad invited us to their house for dinner that same day. We gladly accepted their invitation and had a blast that night with them with good food, laughter, and a new card game “Skipbo.” The week only got better as we proceeded to have dinner with Rachel, Nate and their kids and again later on with Mary and Chad. Then a truly amazing thing happened.
We were at dinner at our trailer and we had invited Mary, Chad and their son Evan over for Justin’s homemade pizza. We were all enjoying ourselves when Mary made the following announcement “So we’ve talked it over and we want you and Justin to come live with us in our spare bedroom. Sammy can come too.” They further explained that they felt called to open their house up to us, people they had known for less than 5 days, and that we could move in and share their laundry, internet, and kitchen facilities ect. Needless to say, we were blown away with the generosity and magnitude of their offer. We took some time to think about it (we are paid up for the month of Jan at the RV park) but we’ve pretty much decided to take them up on their offer. With Mary and Chad we got more than we asked for: new friend and new roommates!
HEARTSSSSSSSS!!!! ALLLL AROUNDDDDDDDD on this one! :)
