There is T-3 months left until I graduate! I cannot WAIT to be an official PA-C. Definitely scared, but definitely excited.
In the meantime, I am on my SECOND TO LAST ROTATION! Woo hoo!! I've elected to work in a GI clinic and learn about "guts and butts." So I'm up here in Portland again and these are a few key points from the last 3 days of work:
1) I know I'm at the right office when directly outside the front door at 7:30AM on the sidewalk is vomit. Probably from one of my patients. Awesome.
2) After talking to patients about their bloody diarrhea and continuous vomiting, I am going to try and avoid all public bathrooms on the GI office floor.
3) Along the lines of #2, this will be the rotation where I stop biting my nails.
4) During colonoscopies, I need to keep my mouth closed and breath through my nose. Lots of gas and who knows what other microscopic things come out of that hole the tube goes in.
Besides these pearls of wisdom I'm picking up, I'm learning that I really do like GI. At least so far.
